Apprenticeship Training |
|
Cement finishing is a certified voluntary trade under the Trades Qualification and Apprenticeship Act (Reg 1046). The CFLRA, in cooperation with the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities and our trade unions, created a full cement mason apprenticeship training program in the early 1990's. This provincial program includes classroom and on-site training segments for both basic and advanced levels of cement finishing skills.
In addition to the finishing of all floors and exterior pavements, the art of cement finishing includes the application of numerous architectural finishes including: pattern or impressed concrete, coloured concrete, exposed aggregate, polished concrete, and epoxy coatings and floor systems.
Cement finisher journeyman also earn one of the highest wages in the industry - making this choice of a career both creative and rewarding.
